2010 Committee

Pam Motley Adams
Committee Chair

Pam joined Works of Heart in 2010 at the request of a friend. Pam retired from the Wake County Courthouse as an Assistant Clerk in 2004 and immediately began her new career with CT Corporation System in Raleigh, NC where she is currently. She is a Raleigh native and enjoys reading, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She is a graduate of Peace College but won’t tell you when. She has two Oriental cats and loves animals. She looks forward to continuing with Works of Heart in the coming years.

Adam Cave
Art Committee Chair

Adam has continuously supported Works of Heart since moving to Raleigh in 1997. He has twice served as a juror for past auctions and, with his wife Cindy, almost never missed an event. The couple founded Adam Cave Fine Art in February 2008; a fine art gallery in downtown Raleigh, representing painters, printmakers and photographers. Adam has a BA in both Fine Art and Art History from Connecticut College. He began his art career with an internship at the National Museum of American Art in Washington, DC and then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he spent three years at the Ray Tracey Galleries. On returning to the South he worked for ten years as director of Gallery C in Raleigh. He has served on the Town of Cary Public Art Advisory Board as well as lectured for The Visual Art Exchange, The Fine Arts League of Cary and the Professional Art Quilt Alliance. Most recently Adam was asked to be a juror for an exhibit of printmaking at the Cary Town Hall put on by Printmakers of North Carolina (PoNC).

Mark Westphal
Marketing Committee Chair

This is Mark's third year as the Works of Heart Marketing Chair. In prior years he has contributed time to the auction in different volunteer capacities. He has also served the Alliance as an Evening With Friends party host and volunteer, and indirectly through his years of involvement with Crape Myrtle Festival. He is a 25 year resident in Raleigh and works as the Marketing Account Manager at Early Design Group and is one of the founders of artsee magazine.

Art Sperry
Live Auction Co-Chair/Master of Ceremonies

Art has always believed in giving back to the community. He’s served on a number of boards and commissions for the advertising industry, the City of Raleigh, and a variety of educational and cultural organizations. He’s also given time and money to support scores of charities, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Cancer Society, the Humane Society, and the ASPCA. Art is the president of Sperry & Associates in Raleigh, and is a founder of The CC (formerly known as the Capital Corral) in Raleigh.

For 30 years, he and his partner, Paul Otto, have supported numerous organizations and groups dedicated to improving the lives of the LGBT community. His commitment to AAS-C (then ASA) began at the very beginning in a conversation with Sandy Hendrickson and others about the urgent need for a response to the AIDS crisis. He provided free office space, helped to recruit the agency’s first executive, and volunteered his time and the resources of both Sperry & Associates and The CC.

An active volunteer with virtually every AAS-C activity and event, Art has been the master of ceremonies for Works of Heart since its inception. The AAS-C’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” is presented at Works of Heart in honor of Art’s generous spirit.

Paul Otto
Live Auction Co-Chair

Paul has been a committee member since the inception of Works of Heart. He acted as the fundraising chairman for the former AIDS Service Agency and later as chairman of the auction for two events. Many valuable members and past members of Works of Heart committees were recruited under his watch. With Art Sperry, he serves as the liaison for the live auction.
