Artist Benefits

The partnership of The Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina (“the Alliance”), its volunteers, financial and gallery partners, and you, our contributing artists, allows Works of Heart to continue and grow as the region’s premiere charity art auction. As a participating artist, you can look forward to:

  • the Signature Artist program, which spotlights one artist, along with their contribution and work through a coordinated branding campaign in advance of the auction. The 2011 Signature Artist will be the “Juror’s Choice” recipient of this year’s live auction jury (visit our Signature Artist Program page to learn more);
  • a Live Auction of 45 pieces under the direction of Leland Little, one of the area’s most respected and talented auctioneers;
  • a three-juror panel viewing all donated works for possible inclusion in the live auction;
  • input on how all donated art (whether you’re an artist or a donor) will be auctioned in the Silent Auction, including whether or not their works are part of the “Make it Mine” program and minimum opening bid;
  • a limited number of total entries in the Silent Auction, making this event more competitive and more prestigious than ever;
  • a fully integrated Web site with photos and descriptions;
  • links to the artist’s Web site, increasing visibility for the artist and their work;
  • pre-event marketing using local print, magazine, radio and television media—including WRAL-TV5, artsee magazine, and Carolina Woman; a professionally produced catalog listing each contribution descriptively and photographically;
  • a Kick-Off Party at Flanders Gallery, Sunday, August 8, and the Preview Party Reception at Raleigh’s Progress Energy Center on the evening prior to the auction give artists excellent opportunities to meet sponsors, gallery owners, and prospective buyers;
  • a free Public Preview, opening the art displays to the public and school groups prior to the official opening of the auction during the day on Saturday;
  • Information on the sales price and the name and address of the buyer who purchased each contribution (with the buyer’s consent); and
  • a guaranteed enthusiastic and participatory audience, thanks to the new format of the Live and Silent Auctions—right until the last piece of artwork is announced “SOLD!"
